Love knows no Borders

I have quite a bit of big news! First off I am graduating soon and officially becoming a young adult! I’m very excited! Even more exciting than this is that I have been accepted for a position teaching English in Roatan, Honduras. Starting in February I will be spending 10 months volunteering as an English Teacher for Roatan Horizons. I had the privilege of meeting their leaders Deborah and Sarah Hunnicutt last summer, and I found them to be inspiring women of courageous faith and genuine kindness.
This work appealed to me for a number of reasons. I will be graduating with a degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. However, when it comes to practical experience, I have only had around 30 hours of teaching in a classroom. This experience will allow me some time to develop my expertise as a teacher. Another reason God called me to this work is personal growth.This opportunity will allow me to grow spiritually, and emotionally in ways college simply could not. My hope and plan in Roatan is to serve where I can and take some of the workload off of Sarah and Deborah whose endeavors are reaching more people than they could have expected. Finally, the chance to work with a mentor such as Deborah Hunnicutt, who is from a similar background as I, both intimidates and excites me. Although I have not spent much time with Deborah, the times I have been privileged to speak with her left a huge impression on me.
So what am I asking? I am asking for your support. First and foremost I need prayers. This trip will challenge me to face things which frighten me, or force me to step outside my comfort zone. Next of course is financial support. My financial goal is $5,000. I would love any level of support you can provide. Anything you can give is appreciated and if I have more than I need, the rest of the proceeds will go directly to Deborah and her school.
Being raised in my family, one of the most important values I learned, was that love should show NO BOUNDARIES. This is something that is motivating me to go on this trip and a message I hope to spread while sharing my plans.
